Centenary of the Adventist church in Cameroon.
ORGANIZING COMMITTEE INAUGURATED

1926–2026 marks 100 years since the first American evangelists from South Africa, T.M. French and W.H. Anderson, entered Cameroon through the southern part of the country to introduce the Adventist message. In the Northern region, a Swedish mission coming from Nigeria and led by Pastor Bergström enabled Seventh-day Adventists to penetrate that region, known as a stronghold of Islam.
For this reason, over a two-year period, from November 2026 to November 2028, the 150,000 members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church will celebrate one hundred (100) years of evangelism in this country of 480,000 square kilometers, stretching from the Gulf of Guinea to Lake Chad.
An organizing committee established by the West-Central Cameroon Union Mission was officially inaugurated on Thursday, June 6, 2026, in Yaoundé by Pastor Guy-Josia Ndombo, Executive Secretary of the Union. The committee is chaired by a lay member, Elder Akono Emile Sédar.
A similar committee will be established within the North-East Cameroon Union Mission, and the two committees will merge to form the National Commission for the Preparation of the Centenary of the Adventist Church’s Entry into Cameroon.
The project was recently presented to Pastor Richard E. McEdward, Executive Secretary of the General Conference, who was visiting Cameroon in connection with the organization of the Secretariat Council of the 13 unions that make up the West-Central Africa Division (WAD).

Paul Williams Oboun Nyebe
Communication Director,
